  1. 2 strokes have reed valves.....they are not adjustable. The ticking could be a number of things ranging from something under the flywheel to a wrist pin on the piston. Have the engine checked out by a Certified tech.

  2. There are no valves in a 2 stroke. The air is let in by a port in the cylynder wall and exhaust is let out a port on the cylinder wall. The ports are covered and uncovered when the piston moves up and down the cylinder. The ticking noise can be a number of things from low octane, old fuel causing it to ping to a rod knocking. The best thing you can do is determine where the noise is coming from and go from there. Could be bad but could be something very minor.

  3. No valve adjustment if it is a 2 stroke. That ticking noise may be the ignition system firing, when did you last replace the ignition wires?

  4. I would go with a bad or loose plug wire.  A broken reed valve could tap, but that's unlikely.  You could be hearing the fuel pump, but i doubt that as well.  Something may be hitting the flywheel, like if the starter isn't disengaging completely.

  5. It does, but nothing that you can adjust.
