I just put 2 new tires on the back of my Dodge Neon two months ago. Now, the right rear tire is worn down almost bald on the outer edges about midway from center and when I go over a bump, the back of the car sways. The left rear tire is fine. My car was towed with the front tires locked into place by a local tower, but the tower said that had nothing to do with how the new tire was wearing. Thing is, they never showed this kind of wear before he towed it. Also, after he towed it, my steering wheel is kinda not centered anymore; you can see that the "triangle" center of the steering wheel is not centered. The tower also said that had nothing to do with the way he towed it. But, it wasn't like that before he towed it. ANY help anyone can give me as to why the right rear tire is wearing like that, or why the steering wheel is no longer centered?

  1. go to alignments shop

can tell u what wrong and if car was towed

if damage cause by towing car

lot's of tow truck set hook on axel

    u best bet

  2. In the first instance re:  tire wear and swaying, a rear strut is gone, really gone badly, and the wheel is hopping up and down like a yo yo.

Next about the towing, the alignment of the front tires and steering was affected or yanked out of place.  This has to do with tie rod ends.

  3. Sounds like the alignment is screwed up.  Of course he is gonna say it has nothing to do with the way he towed it, what you need to do is take it to someone else and have them check it and determine if it is caused by towing.

  4. well this may sounds stupid but, if your right rear tire may have low pressure in it which would cause the wear you are explaining (The tire curves in on the center, outer edges only touch the surface of the road).

  5. you need to have the rear suspension on it checked it either has bad struts on it or worn bushings that will cause it to wear out tires like that,id also have the whole car realigned after any parts was replaced on it,good luck.
