  1. You do not remove the 4 bolts as mentioned earlier. Take the rear end cover off and the wheel/tire assy. You will have to remove the spider gear pin so do it safely. If on the ground block both front wheels so it does not role any because you will need the transmission in neutral.Depending the size of rear end you have , a bolt for the gear pin will have to be removed,3/8-5/16 and try to use a six point as not to round bolt head any. Let the pin slide out and push axle (with seal leaking ) toward the center of the housing and you will have a C clip to remove in the rear end, then the axle will slide out of the housing when you pull on it.Take and pry the seal from axle and replace. When installing the axle you may have to push down a bit to get it to enter into the spider assy.

Hope this helps and feel free to contact if I can help anymore

  2. tazz8144 is absolutely correct. I would like to add that you will need to remove the rear brake rotor on the axle with the leaking seal. This is achieved by simply removing the two 10mm bolts that secure the brake caliper to the backing plate and removing the caliper. The brake rotor should simply slide out after that. You may encounter difficulty with the rotor binding on the parking brake shoes, if the parking brake is stuck partially engaged to the rotor, so be sure to verify the parking brake lever is pushed back as far as it will go. The two rear axles on that vehicle are either 8.8" or 9.75". Also, when removing the axle, be sure to have the axle positioned where the wheel studs do not contact the parking brake shoe anchor at around the 12 o'clock position. This ensures that you will be able to push the axle inward far enough to enable the c-clip to slip out. Once finished, and the rear diff cover reinstalled, the easiest way to refill the rear diff is through the top by removing the rear diff speed sensor. Fill with the 3/8" square drive plug removed on the driver side of the housing. It should take approximately 3 litres of 75W140. Do not forget to add the friction modifier additive if it is a locking rear diff. Hope this helps.

  3. remove back tire look just behind axle where lugs are you should see four nuts or bolts remove them..... then drain the rear ead by opening it up should one bolt pin there or clips maybe both you remove pin and or clips slip the axle out and take to a auto parts to have a new bearing and seal put on its press on

  4. remove the rear wheels, remove the abs sensor if equipped. Drain the diff and remove the cover. rotate the diff till you see the top of the spider pin, remove the retaining pin(bolt and remove the pin. Push in on the axle to be removed and remove the clip on the inside end of the axle. remove the axle and service the bearing and seal, installation is the reverse.
