The check engine comes on and goes off all the time. Some people say that the airbag could come out at anytime and others say its fine. I really need to know what I should do.

  1. if a car has SRS airbags there are wires under the seat and if the cars brain gets power and those wires are disconnected it will throw an SRS or  airbag light. a dealership service dept is typically the only place to get this turned off. usually only takes seconds

  2. you have a problem some where go to a good mechanic and he will check your airbag light and will tell you the real problem. he is has to have a special computer  for air bags , or go to a dealer

  3. I would not worry about about the airbag deploying. When the airbag's computor sees a problem,it makes the light come on so you'll know to have it checked. It also turns off the airbag system so they won't work if you wanted them to or not (IN THEORY,anyway).Drive the car, have it checked when you can.PS-call the VW dealer & inquire how long the supplemental restraint system is covered under warranty.
