Question:

I have a 2001 yamaha V-star. It starts in nuteral fine,as soon as I put it in gear it dies, can ne1 help?

i just had the pick up coil replaced on it last week and now i have this problem, i dont have money to play with right now but if anyone knows a simple solution to help fix the problem i'll try it,thanks.

  1. Make sure your kickstand is up.  The bike shuts off the engine as soon as the clutch starts to engage if it is down.


  2. yep. Check the switch for the side stand.

  3. You still have the side stand down.

  7. I had a similar issue this past weekend with my Virago. My battery levels were low so I added some water and it was as good as new:)

  8. Ignore the problem. Start it in gear with the clutch in. If it won't do this, then the other guys are right about the sidestand.
