Question:

I have a 2002 gmc envoy 4wd and i get a lot of resistance in the front wheels when i make a left or right turn

i have a 2002 gmc envoy i was having problem when i make a sharp turn left or right it seems like their's some resistance in the front wheels i thought it might have been my axle half shaft so i replaced it but i still have the same problem when i make turns some times it even seems like its trying to lock up.please help me to save some dollars .

  1. Your wheels maybe the wrong size.


  2. if its awd you will need to change the fluid in the transfer caseif not you will have a problem with the axle lock on the front differential

  3. are your tires rubbing your wheel wells or are they stock if they were rubbing you would also hear it lock to lock only pretty much

  4. it seems to me like its stuck in 4-wheel drive i am assuming it is a pushbutton 4 wheel drive system they have been known for having problems with the selector switches ,if your familiar with a 4-wheel drive system then check it out to see if the pront wheels are engaged or not...if not i would bring it to a reputable gmc repair shop so they can fix the problem....i had the same problem with my 2007 Z-71 the indicator lights said it was in HI-2 but it was really stuck in AUTO 4-drive
