ok on merc big foot engine... it is set up just like your car.... you want to buy merc 4- stroke oil ( 10w30) not car oil.! ! ! !

this oil has stuff in its mixture that this engine needs..! ! ! !

the oil fill and check stick are marked in yellow...

Martin we need to know what oil your talking about, is it for the gear-case or engine oil? If it's for the motor use good quality 2 stroke oil and there is a reservoir under the cowl. If it's for the gear-case use Type C. Your best bet is to pop down to the marine shop and those guys will show you how.
