I have a 2005 dakota with alpine ida x100 and is intregated into the factory amplifier I want to bypass it.?

What exactly is bypassing the amplifier ? My stereo was louder with the factory head unit than it is with the alpine... WHAT DO I DO?

  1. bypassing the amp is just hooking the speakers up directly to the radio so that its internal amp will power them

    as far as it being louder without an amp, are the setting on the amp correct

    - and sometimes amps are not to make it "louder", its to give you better sound quality- if the speakers are under powered the radios internal amp will be overworking itself trying to supply the necessary wattage which makes the radio hotter and as you turn up the volume it get distorted (distortion is the main cause of speaker damage) and with an amp on them they would have the necessary wattage so that when you crank the volume it may not be any louder but it will be clearer
