The engine will occasionally act like a whole cylinder is not firing for several hours. It has 120K Km on it and I suspect injectors , But why so soon? Probably low sulfur dry diesel? I have friends with the same problem..any answers?

  1. I have 04.5 & 05 we always run additive> And ATF> sound like injector as they have issues with them> Check your oil as they flood and fuel enters the crankcase>

  2. probably an injector going out i have a friend with a 2006 dodge cumming with 17000 miles on it and its already had an injector go out on it I'm not sure why but there ruining a few thousand psi of fuel pressure i haven't got to play with a common rail fuel system yet so I'm not sure what kind of problems they have

  3. id check with the injectors first, when they went to more "Eco-Friendly" blends of fuel, some trucks designed to run on the less refined fuel have had some issues like you mention. what it is,  the more refined fuel is breakage loose crud etc that is in your fuel system, when the crud breaks loose, clogging occurs. what youll have to do is disassemble the injectors yourself,or have a shop do that, and basically clean the assembly. there should also now be additives on the market to help clean out the remaining crud, and allow the engine to burn it
