  1. YES. IF the amp can drive the LOW resistance speakers, it can certainly handle HIGHER RESISTANCE speakers....

    You just don't want to drive LOWER resistance....


  2. It's all right, but you have things backwards.

    The receiver outputs different power based on the impedance

    Your receiver has measurements that show it can produce:

    200 watts into a 4 ohm speaker

    150 watts into a 6 ohm speaker

    100 watts into a 8 ohm speaker

    The danger: a direct short is 0 ohms. The closer your speakers are to 0 ohms - the closer you are to a short-circuit which will damage things.
