  1. I own a tortoise and have owned two before and in my opinion a glass tank is not a good home for a tortoise. My last tortoise lived in a glass tank and it died, i'm not saying that the tank is to blame, but the tortoise I have now is a lot happier than the tortoise who lived in a tank, he lives in a house which we made for him out of wood and the floor is covered with maize. Make sure you get a UV light for your tortoise as this is essential for them, my tortoise got shell rot as we were not told they needed this, luckily he recovered as soon as we got the UV light. Also make sure you give them a source of calcium and a heat mat or a heated rock in their house.

  2. yeah sounds fine to me as long as u dont fill it with water, ideally you want a vivarium, but a fish tank will work just as good, but u'll need to get a bigger one in a couple of years.

  3. no it is not a good home for tortoises, they need more floor space, a fish tank is more geared towards height rather than floor space, tortoises need a good air flow to stay healthy and a fish tank does not provide this, the humidity will be come too high and cause respirtory problems russians do not do well in fish tanks, here are a couple of sites so you can see what a tortoise needs to stay healthy,  http://www.russiantortoise.org/care_shee...   http://www.tortoisetrust.org/

  4. Don't do it they will drown

  5. noo

  6. A 25 gallon tank is much to small for a pair of tortoises and everything they need to stay happy.  I've kept much smaller herps in a similarly sized tank.  I've never had Russian tortoises, but I found a link to a good care sheet/information resource about these guys: http://www.russiantortoise.org/care_shee...

This goes into the reasons why you wouldn't want to choose a glass aquarium for them.  For a 25 gallon, a leopard gecko or other smaller reptile might work out much better for you.
