What would cause the outdrive to kick up to the surface when I put it in reverse? And how can I fix this?

  1. There is a reverse lock mechanism on the drive that engages a pin. It is either broken, sticking, or needs adjustment. It is located on the center pivot pin under the exhaust bellows. Make sure the drive is trimmed down before putting in reverse. I have the same drive and this is very common.
