Question:

I have a 2yr spayed Aussie. Getting aggressive?

She has started to develop some bad habits just in the past few days and seems to be getting worse. She started counter surfing again which she hasn't done in a long time and when you tell her to get down she's not listening. Just yesterday she started a fight with my other Aussie (4yr. spayed) who she has never been aggressive with in any way what so ever. She has just started "stalking her" (standing over very tensely and staring at her) and now my 4yr old Aussie doesn't want to be anywhere near her. Any ideas or in site to what may be happening would be great.

  1. obedience school is a step. but those dogs are aggressive dogs. my friend has one and if i go any where near the 2nd oldest daughter she (dog) will bite my shoe. she alreday bite a guy on the hand and she was never like that. she has also tried to bite the owners of her. they are trying to find her a new home. u really need to show her u are the pack leader not her she thinks she can do what she wants and u need to start useing a deep stern voice when she gets out of line and let her know she is doing wrong.

  2. You have a dog trying to make her self pack leader!

You are the pack leader not her!

    Do you walk your dogs?

    Sounds like she needs it.

Aussies are working dogs and need something to do.

She needs a way to release her energy and has found it in jumping on your other dog.

You, as pack leader, need to let her know that you will not tolerate it.

Do not let her around your other dog without you present so if she tries to jump her again you can grab her and roll her to her side till she calms down.

  3. Sounds like your dog is bored and probably isn't getting enough exercise.  Make an effort to wipe your dogs out every day.  A tired dog is a good dog.  Obedience classes would really help too, herding dogs love having a job to do, and exercising the brain is just as important as exercising the body.

  4. Sounds like your younger Aussie has in mind to be pack leader.  At 2 years, she's just beginning to assert her dominance.  She's vying for a higher rank in the family pack and she's pushing you (with not listening) and she's pushing your other dog by stalking her.  Best thing for her would be obedience training.  If you don't address this now, you're heading for more trouble, bigger trouble later on.
