I didn't take any honors classes this year, and I finished the year with a 3.05 GPA. I want to know if this is bad, and if I need to do better to set myself up for a better college.

  1. no thats good

  2. If you maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout high school, you'll be able to get into a number of state colleges. But some state colleges and most private colleges require a higher GPA, so if you're interested in going somewhere a little more prestigious, you should try to bump your overall average into the 3.25-3.5 range at least. In reality, most state colleges provide a perfectly adequate education, so it's really up to you whether you think it matters.

I should warn you, though, that the first year of high school is going to look really, really easy by the time you get to college. If it's difficult for you now to get the grades you want, don't count on it being easier in the future. No matter what your standards are, you *will* be working harder.
