I have no will power and can't stop eating. I have joined the gym which i enjoy, but can't see anything working without my appetite decreasing, which it's showing no signs of doing. I want to eat everything in sight. Any ideas?

  1. First of all-are you breastfeeding? If so, be careful before you diet. If you don't eat enough of the right stuff then  your health will suffer and you will feel even more tired. It would be wise to  wait until you've had all your checkups with your doctor before beginning a weight loss regime after giving birth. Maybe it would help to discuss this with  your midwife/health visitor.

Personally  I faced the same problems (had more to lose) and was hungry a lot! I joined weightwatchers, following the breastfeeding plan and the weight shifted steadily. I wouldn't worry about a gym unless it's something you enjoy for yourself-there are more important demands on your time and there are plenty of other ways to keep active. Making sure you take baby out in the pram for a good walk each day is a good way of getting out of the house and exercising. There is even 'pram power walkers' I've seen in our local parks. It does help if there's a friend to keep you motivated and keep you company. It's much harder to chicken out of some activity if it means letting a friend down.

If you need snacks to keep the energy up then try to aim for low fat things or fruit.  I found I always ate more when I was tired so it may be a good idea to try and nap whenever baby does. For me weightwatchers worked and  I was back to normal after 9 months (have since gained weight more's the pity)! Good luck, and don't expect too much too soon. Your body has gone through a lot in pregnancy and giving birth-give it time to recover.

  2. I have had the very same problem after each of my 3 children. I have to say that it might take another month or two to settle down. I ended up putting on a stone after each pregnancy - really frustrating and I am now in the same position. I have actually been dieting for 3 months now and have not lost very much. I would strongly advise you to try very hard to control the urge to overeat - it can be very hard to lose it again. The cravings to eat do subside though after a while and your body reverts back to only wanting what you would normally eat. Good luck

  3. Have you talked to your doctor about this? You should get a professional opinion for your problem.
