I have a 3 year old male Cockatiel what can I do?

I am starting 4X10's and I want to know how that will affect him by being alone for so long? I put music on when I leave is there something else I can do so he does not get lonely or feel neglected? I take him out of the cage in the evenings when I was doing my regular 5 days a week.....please help I am scared he will die from loneliness.....I thought of buying another bird but until I do what can I do?

The radio probably helps.  We leave the television on when we aren't home for our two cockatiels. (We bought the female first and wanted her to have a companion so bought a male shortly after).  

For us, the TV works great.  The male even whistles some of the tunes from commercials he likes and squacks at others he doesn't like.

A companion is your other way for him to have company.  We are so glad we bought two - I think everyone needs a companion, even pets.

I agree with your thoughts of loneliness - but your best bet - give your vet a call.  He can give you the best advice and you will feel at ease knowing you've checked thoroughly.

Don't worry. If you can give him a view of the outside or put the television on for the time you are away, that should be fine. I assume you have some pacifiers in the cage to keep him busy like a string toy or a wooden toy. Don't put him in direct sunlight.

Visit my 360 you can see Dora on my shoulder. He's a male with a female name I wrongly sexed him early on and couldn't wait to name him.

The T.V. works well too! My birds love to watch t.v. and listen to kids songs while I am gone! If you want to still be his main playmate you may want to think twice about anther bird!

You should try getting another bird for a friend as soon as possible but until then try giving him more things to do like a swing and mabye a ball with a bell in it. sorry i wish i could help more but i cant think of anything else just try putting some toys in the cage and see if he finds it fun!
