I have a 30 gallon tank for my new laopard leopard but?

i want to know about heat and lighting...

-does it need a heat light or a undetank heater or does it need both.. im lost on this one.. preferable someone who has a leopard gecko answer this..

and also if i get either of these how will i keep the temps accurate during the day and night? and do they need a night light ?

  1. I use undertank heaters with thermostats.  They use a lot less electricity and aren't as much of a fire hazard.  Leos also need belly heat to digest properly, so overhead lights provide less benefit.  Regular room lighting will be just fine to create a day-night cycle.

    Again, look into a thermostat.  I use the A-life brand one for about $30.  It turns the UTH on and off to keep it at a certain temperature.  Works great!  And no, they don't need night light.

  3. you can use the lamp OR the pad. not both it will be to HOT.

    for a lamp get a night light and leave the day lamp for the morning and day.
