  1. I F YOU CAN STILL GET A MENU ON THE SCREEN,GO TO SET-UP AND CHANGE THE SIGNAL SETTING FROM CATV TO AIR OR VISA VERSA AND SEE IF YOU GET SOME KIND OF REACTION ON THE SCREEN.YOU ARE STILL GETTING POWER.THATS A GOOD SIGN.LOOK INSIDE THE BACK OF THE SET AND SEE IF THE PICTURE TUBE IS ON.IT WILL BE AN ORANGE COLOR.IF ITS ON,YOU MAY HAVE A CIRCUIT BOARD FUSE THAT HAS BLOWN.SOMETIMES WHEN THESE GO,A FEW THINGS GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME.WHEN THESE FUSES ARE REPLACED,THINGS USUALLY WILL BE FIXED THAT WENT OUT TOGETHER.I HAVE DONE THIS REPAIR A FEW TIMES AND ALL WAS WELL AFTER BUT,REMOVING THE COVER AND HOUSING OF THE TV IS A CAREFUL OPERATION AS SOMETIMES CIRCUIT BOARDS ARE ACTUALLY CONNECTED TO THE COVER AND CAN EASILY   BE DAMAGED.THEN,THE TV WOULD NEED MAJOR WORK.NOT TO MENTION THE STORED UP ELECTRICITY IN THE PICTURE TUBE AND THE POWER SUPPLY THAT CAN STILL SHOCK EVEN AFTER THE SET IS UNPUGGED.I WOULD SUGGEST A TRIP TO THE TV REPAIR MAN FOR THIS JOB.I THINK THE REPAIR IS MINOR AND YOU WILL STILL HAVE YOUR TOSHIBA

  2. When you hit the power button, take notice if the power light blinks at all and take note of how many times it blinks or what kind of pattern it blinks in.  Call Toshiba service and let them know or a reputable repair shop and let them know the amount of times it blinks....they will then be able to narrow it down to a few different options of what may be wrong and can give you an est time and price to get it fixed.  I had a 36" Sony Vega Trinton that did the same thing and we noticed the red indicator light near the power button blinked 9 times.  We called Sony and got a list of local Sony certified repair shops.  We then called the repair shops and told them our tv was blinking 9 times.  This told them it was a possibility of three different options (bad "m" board, bad power supply, or something else that i cant remember right now).  I ended up selling the tv to a friend of mine at college because i was moving out the tv was just to big and heavy to keep moving around so i never did find out what was wrong or how much it costs but i do know he got it fixed and it works fine to this day!

  3. We have a 32 inch Sony and sometimes it cuts out, it may have some picture or some sound or just nothing. I know it sounds crazy but my husband gives it a good shake and it comes back on just fine! Apparently it has a loose connection internally and giving it a shake puts it back in place. I know it is not the reccommended way to fix a TV but it seems to work. Just don;t shake it too hard! lol!
