I ordered a sony 380 watt 12" subwoofer and im really confused on what kind of amp I would need?

Later on I plan on maybe getin another 12" woofer so i want to have an amp that would be good for that if I get another woofer.

Woofer details:

4-ohm total impedance

power handling: 90-380 watts RMS (1,500 watts peak power)

Would this be a good amp?

  1. Nope, not going to work. You'll be over powering it now, and when you add another sub your impedance is going to drop to 2ohms. Which means you'll be putting 900W to your subs or about 200W to much. It could be ok if you take it easy on the gain, but It would be better to just get an amp that better fits your subs.

I'd go with something like this, http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/I...

  2. i agree with Greg.

you will end up damaging the subwoofer(s) voice coil, there for blowing them... specially if the amp settings are not done correctly.
