to escape out to a drain at the back of the fridge (outside the fridge). Every so often this drain blocks with a slimy mould and water is unable to escape. I clear it with a pipe cleaner every so often.

The instruction booklet states nothing about the drain, but to empty the drainage tray every few months. From what I can gather most of the water is meant to evaporate from the tray.

Any ideas how I can stop this blockage in the drainage outlet??The fridge works well so replacing it is not an option at this stage.

Thanks.

  1. All refrigerators drains have traps to keep the warm air from being sucked into the box, mix some warm water and bleach to clean this trap. This trap holds water and you need to clean the trap well.

  2. Nothing else you can do about it and yes, the water should be evaporating from the heat of the compressor and/or condenser.

  3. My fridge is about the same age as yours and being a Fisher & Pakel too with the freezer at the bottom, I'm wondering why you are getting this problem at all! as we have never drained the tray at anytime! Why dont you contact the manufacturers and get some advice as to why this is happening?
