If I have a dryclean labelled coat (nylon/cotton with polyester lining)...can I put it on 'gentle/sensitive' cold cycle in the washing machine?

  1. I have to be honest and say that I very seldom dryclean clothes

that are dry clean only. I either use the dry clean kit that you can use in your own dryer or put them in cold water with Zero and just

dip them up and down and then lie them flat and cover with a towel and then press gently to remove most of the water then I lie it flat on a rack to dry. I have never had a problem with shrinkage. I started this

years ago because I had one blouse that I liked a lot and dry cleaned it often. It just started to smell awful of both sweat and dry cleaning

fluid so I figured I had got my wear out of it and tried this. Not only did it smelll wonderful the colours looked a lot brighter. I have been doing it ever since. I try very hard not to buy anything that is dry clean only as it is too expensive and also bad for the environment.

  2. cotton and poly shrink fast.  If it's on gentle, it won't shrink as much but things like that make me nervous.  I wouldn't chance it and i'd bring it to a cleaners. BUT.... on the other hand, they have a dry cleaning thing you can buy at the store... Dryel, i think it's called...

try that... it's formulated for drycleaning items.

  3. it says "dry clean only" not "dry clean optional"

i wouldnt wash it in the machine unless you want to buy another coat...

  4. Umm... Dry Clean Only means Dry Clean Only.  I would NOT chance it.

  5. Sure you can.  But only once, I suspect.
