  1. once i had a cat who was really nervous when we got her.. she would cower if you even came in the room! but eventually she became really loving and sweet - you just need to give him time :-)

  2. Since you've been his only owner & know that he hasn't suffered anything very traumatic, I would say he has some feral qualities in his genetic line. I foster kittenes/cats & have found that a good non-prescription treatment is a drop of RESCUE REMEDY. That's a combination of soothing flowers & you can buy it online. It can be given many times during the day. Safe for people too!

  3. I have a couple of cats and like people cats are so different! But they have one thing in common...THEY DON'T like other people to come into our house! And they keep away from people outside!

To me and my son they give us mountains of love and thats all that's matters!

  4. you do not say if your cat is nervous outside or indoors.to be nervous outside is quite natural, as this is purely self-preservation & will help stop your cat from being stolen by strangers & may save him/her from getting run over.if  you mean indoors, it is quite different.often, with some cats, they do not cope well if there is a cat-flap as they feel threatened as, to them, their home is not secure.if this is the case, try shutting off the cat-flap .it may take quite some time before you see a difference,as puss has to get used to the new [to him] enviroment.this can also apply to any windows left permanently open.try closing them at night.but please remember puss will need a litter tray!!!

  5. Some cats are just skittish. You could try sitting down with him, talking softly and feeding him. But usually that just makes the bond between the two of you stronger. I have a cat like that and he trusts me completely but he'll run from others and freak out at noises.

  6. that would depend on how old he was when you got him and what he was coming from.  If he was treated poorly by a previous owner, your best bet would be to use lots of cuddling and loving, give him treats, and just make him feel special and wanted.
