  1. you have to download the emulator. it is probably on the playstation website or something

    edit:

whatever, why would you play ps2 games anyway when there are so many good ps3 games like metal gear and siren?

  2. It won't play them because it can't.  That's why it's cheaper than the other models.  Sony stripped out all of the PS2 hardware and software from the 40GB, and no amount of reformatting can change that.

You would have to download and install an emulator of some kind, but there is no official way to do it.  Your best bet would be to google around and see if anyone is working on a hack.

  3. 40gb PS3 are the only ones that can't play ps2 games.

  4. The 40GB PS3 Will not play PS2 games.  If you looked on the box, there is a big box that says this.  The "80GB PS3" has an actual emulator built in to it.  To my knowledge, Sony does not "sell" or are you able to "download" / play PS2 games on your 40GB.  But its just as cheap to buy an actual PS2 and play the games 100% because trust me, the emulator isn't all that it lives up to be.

  5. the 40GB cant play ps2 games getting a bigger HDD or formatting it wont help you

they disabled the ps2 compatible to save money sorry
