I took the tank out and put new gas in and cleaned the carbs. now when i try to go fast the primer ball loses all its pressure and the boat just stalls out. do i need a new fuel pump and if so where is it located? or what else could be the cause of this problem?

  1. Make sure your tank is vented and replace the squeeze bubble on the gas line

  2. Follow the fuel line where it enters the cowl, you'll come to a square sort of home-plate-shaped object with a thumbscrew in the center.  That's the fuel pump.

Those primer bulbs and quick-disconnect fittings do wear out eventually, and if yours are several years old, wouldn't be a bad idea to replace 'em.

Fuel pump is an easy rebuild...kit at http://iboats.com about $12, can of gasket remover, some permatex #2, about half an hour you're good to go.

Other possible causes, fuel leaking past carb float valves due to misadjusted floats or leaky float valves/seats.  To rule that out, pump primer bulb until firm, take the airbox cover off, tilt the engine full up (motor not running), far as it will go, see if any gas drips out the carb throats.  Squeeze the bulb, see if you can force any gas past the float valves.

  3. air in the line...bleed the line and see if that works
