Question:

I have a 4GB San disk SD Card. How can I get it to work in my camera?

I put it in one of my cameras and it just comes up with a blank screen. When I put it in another it says that it needs to be formatted but when it is almost done it says no card in slot and after a second pops up with the message that it needs to be formatted again. I have searched the internet and I believe that it is because it needs to be in FAT ort FAT16 format but these can only be on cards under 2gb. Apparently I have to create a partition of 2gb and 2gb and then format each individual one. I have searched and searched for a way to do this and tryed multiple free programs and I have never succeeded. Does anyone have any advice on how I may be able to make it so that I can use all 4gb of my memory card in my camera or if the worst comes to the worst just 2gb?

  1. If your camera is an older model, then it probably will not recognize 4GB of memory. And, even if you did partition the card, I doubt if there is a way for the camera to see two partitions (unless someone can enlighten me on that).

So, the way that I see it...is you can either buy a couple of 2GB cards, which are dirt cheap these days.

Or, if you want to use the 4GB card...buy a new camera.
