I only want another one or two. I'm aware the tank isn't big enough to hold many fish, but I think it could hold a 1 or 2 more maybe of a different type.

  1. Nothing.  Goldfish can get over 8 inches for fancies and up to 2 feet for commons.  Get a better tank for your goldfish.  It will die slowly and painfully.  Invest in a ten gallon tank.

  2. well 5 gallon isnt really big enough for many fish, you could consider putting the gold fish in a different tank, and maybe making that 5 gallon a tropical tank. you could have live plants, tropical fish, and they would be much happier in that tank then a gold fish would. and on the plus side you could have more of tropical fish then 1 gold fish and 2 other small fish. that would make a really nice habitat for them to live in!

  3. I dont know.......that goldfish is going to really pollute that  5 gallon quickly. How bout you just add some plants?!

  4. do you have a heater? If you don't, your choices are limited. without a heater I'd say look into some of the more exotic gold fish, and a betta. A male betta does great with goldfish. Only one of those though, as 2 will fight. If you have a heater, you can look into danios or tetras. Both stay pretty small. You could probably put a school or 4 or 5 smaller neon tetras in there so long as you keep on top of water changes.

  5. The goldfish will eventuall get to big for a 5 gallon tank.  White cloud mountain minnows will do well in a small tank. Thay are cheap too.

  6. i put neon tetras and black tetras in with mine

and you can also put in african dwarf frogs

or even a betta if you want .. doesnte matter just make sure the fish wont eat the goldfish and goldfish wont eat the other fishes

  7. you cant use a 5 gallon for a gold fish,a betta would be happy with a filter though....,goldfish need at least 10 gallons but the bigger the better, they grow biig and are slightly messy, they need a filter but not a heater, they like cold water not freezing (though they can live through it) but cold....

  8. One goldfish should really have 10 gallons for growth and to allow dilution of nitrates. It really helps extend their lifespan & allow for healthy growth. Tropical fish can't stay with goldfish because of the temp. variations, and again, the extremely high nitrates in the water. Goldfish pretty much just fair best with their own kind though. ^_^

  9. i would say some minnows and goldfish and clownfish but im n ot sure if they are freshwater and they are quite expenssive

  10. None if the tank is only 5 gallons.  That's not even large enough for one goldfish.

    1 goldfish=15/20 gallon tank MINIMUM

I wouldn't keep anything other then maybe a betta in a 5 gallon tank......
