I have a 6 year old fem cat having a milky vaginal discharge. It doesn't smell fishy or is green in color. She is eating and doesn't seem to be in discomfort. She just came out of heat. Is this normal or an infection?

  1. take her to the vet asap i hope your cat gets better soon :)

  2. Is there a reason why she hasn't been spayed? The only thing I know of that causes a discharge like you are describing is pyometra. It can be life-threatening if left untreated. The only cure is spaying (hysterectomy). Call your vet. Maybe it is something else, but it is better to have it checked out in case it is serious so that it can be treated. Good luck!

  3. It sure doesn't sound right to me. The above contributor is correct when she mentioned pyometra. The risk is very real in unspayed cat. Vaginitis or any kind of inflammation to the v****a could also result in vaginal discharge.

You need to bring her to the vet for a check up now, before she starts to show that she is uncomfortable. Cats hide their illness very well, this could very well be the early stages. Once you realize she is beside herself, the prognosis might not be too good anymore or it will be too late.
