  1. You can have one shark.  Also, the size of most aquatic animals depends on how much space they have.

  2. gallons are a good consideration BUT you need to make sure the fish can fit in the tank at full grown length.

example, when i worked in a petshop i would get countless amount of people coming in with a dead pleco saying "he just died, i dont know why" and i would ask, "whats the size of the tank?" and 9/10 the time they would say 10 gallons or under. news flash people, a regular store pleco can reach 2 freaking feet! how is it going to turn, let alone live in a tank that small?! now, the 1/10 time(these will be the larger plecos that lasted a few months) they will say anything over 20 gallons, which then i ask "whats the dimensions?" and come to find out they have what i call a "angelfish" tank. one that is long, tall but barely 6 inches wide. only a few fish species can live in these types of tanks, which can reach any size from 29 gal to 150 gal and up(custom tanks are fun XS)

i suggest you take all this into consideration. and if you get an oscar, PLEASE dont think you can just plop any fish with him/her. cause they EAT OTHER FISH!

  3. no don't put anything in your tank cause you know your tank is diseased go get your water checked out first then fill it with loaches hhahah
