I have a 7 month old son and has been coughing really bad. What do I do? His doctor doesnt know!?

I do not have central air in the home and The ac unit has to be ran constantly otherwise its scorching hot. It has cause me and him to cough but what do I do for him. I called his doc and she seems to not know (yes thats what she told me). I dont want my baby to be uncomfortable even though hes eating and using the bathroom like normal..HELP PLEASE!! I do not want this to get serious.

get a second opinion! a doctor that doesn't know should at least give you some idea and how to treat symptomatically to keep him comfy.

Humidifier, keep his room moist, and the rest of the house for that matter.  Use a cold air humidifier, as the hot air ones can create bacteria.

go to walmart and get some delsym. it is about $7 per bottle but it really works with the coughing. I think at that age he can get 1/4 tsp every 12 hours. But read the bottle first. You can get the one in the purple box or the orange box. One says children's on it but really they are the same formula and have the dosage for that age on both.
