I have a 7 week old kitten and a 10 year old dog

Question

my dog is very depressed and has been using the bathroom in the house. she also wont come in my bedroom anymore

how can i make her and the cat like eachother?

how can i make my dog happy again?

the person i got the cat from werent feeding it properly and they hit it with sticks to train it.

i have a soft spot for animals so i kind of took the cat from them and brought it into my own hands to raise.

Spend time with your old dog. She may feel left out if you are too excited about your kitten and playing with it all the time. It is kind of like an only child all of a sudden having to share its parents with a new baby. Just make it very clear (by spending lots of time playing & tummy rubs, etc) to your dog that it is a good thing to have the kitten around. To train your dog to associate kitten with "good" give your dog treats, rub her belly, scratch her head, praise her, etc. when the kitten is near or enters the room. When the kitten leaves or is out of sight ignore your dog completely. Soon you will have your dog thinking "Every time I see that darn kitten my mommy loves on me.. I want to be around the kitten so my mommy will give me attention."
