  1. i'm guessing you mean you have a 75 in the class. if so, you need a minimum of a 55 on the exam to have a 70 in the class.

  2. 55% on your final should yield you an overall class score of 70% -- or a "C" assuming standard grading.

calculating this is a matter of multiplying your scores by the class weighting, & then adding them all together.  if all your work up until the final accounts for 75% of the final grade, that weight is 75%.  so... take the weight & multiply by your grade: .75x.75=.5625 or 56.25%.  if your goal is a "C", we take the "traditional" 70% for a "C" & minus your current weighted score -- so .70-.5625=.1375 or 13.75%.  then we take that 13.75% that is needed, & divide it by the weight of the final -- 25% & arrive at the grade you need to get on the final: .1375/.25=.55 or 55%.  to double-check, we now take your weighted pre-final grade & add your weighted final exam grade: 56.25%+13.75%= 70%.  of course i don't recommend "aspiring" for a 55% :)
