  1. How did you test it?

Because most motorcycles do not charge while at idle, the best you can hope for is that it does not run your battery down at idle.

  2. A common cause of batteries not charging is a corroded negative cable.  Make sure all your cables and terminals are clean..

  3. Are you getting power to the brushes?

Are the brushes worn down past the ware lines.

Are the springs for the brushes sacked out? (no spring tension).

Is there any damage to the crankcase cover?

The smallest scratch will be from touching the ground and can throw the cover out of alignment.

Did you replace with brand new parts, or stuff from a salvage yard?

Was the new battery charged properly?

If it wasn't charged adequately, or is slightly discharged when testing the charging system - the battery will not charge, or give inaccurate test results.

Like other's have said, clean all battery terminals and cables (both ends) and tighten them with a wrench, not a s***w driver (won't get tight enough).

  4. First who is doing the work? Next get a service manuel and check the readings for all componets and replace only the needed one.
