I have a 90 dodge dakota and have no spark. I tried the test where you bypass the hall pickup sensor and

jumper terminals 2-3 and hold coil wire from ground and move jumper back and forth then i get spark from coil. does this indicate that my hall sensor is bad or could it be the spark module ? I have 8 .7 volts on my hall sensor hot and almost 13 on my battery womdering why i have a loss of 4 volts on that wire book says should be within 1 volt. thats why i am wondering about spark module

  1. If you have no spark and you bypass the pickup sensor, and you have fire, does that not tell you the sensor is bad?


  2. its probably your crank positioning sensor my son has a96 dakota just quit running on him he changed everything fuel pump cap wires rotor  hall sensor battery all circuits and wires were checked still nothing even fuel pump wouldnt work unless he bypassed it threw fues bos even changed coil i came to visit him he is in the army i told him change the crank sensor he was like im ready to junk this thing i said just do waht i told you he waited and waited a few months later he said im going to try it he got one put it in turned the key truck started rite up he said dad you the man and i said dont you forget it  i had same problem with my 97 dakota would just shut down while doing 65 down the highway was same problem let me know if it helps sounds stupid crank sensor but it all runs inconjunction with the timing  coil spark even the fuel pump my bill for this info 25.00 bucks hahahaaha just kiding
