  1. Install a fuse to prevent the possibilty of fire. When running any power wire from the battery a fuse\fuse block should be installed as close to the battery as possible. As a general rule try and locate the fuse within 18inches of the battery. If the wire were to become grounded it will just blow the fuse.

  2. Splice the wire and extend it. Use a shrink tube to encase the spliced sections and fire will not be a factor.

  3. Like the other dude said, Using a fuse will protect the wire from sparking and damaging your truck.

But it sounds like you want to know how to run the cable.  Although you should run the battery cable on the same side of the vehicle that the battery is located, many folks just prefer the drivers side.

So, what you do is, after attaching the fuse, you need to run the power wire across the engine bay to the driver's side.

Some people will go along the back of the engine bay and use plenty of zip ties to keep the wire from dangling on to anything Hot.

Some guys use a plastic cable tie with a hole in it to s***w down the power cable in place.

Another guy will run the power cable forward and across the radiator area to get to the drivers side firewall. (long but works)

Whatever method you use, take care that the power wire is Not Loose and Hanging over the engine.

    Good Luck.
