  1. vtec is your best alternative.

  2. O jeez stick with honda. Anything other than honda will cost more just to have it custom put in than maybe the motor itself. And the supra is a 6 cylinder, unless you just won the lottery, stick with honda. For a Prelude, I'd highly recomend an H22, they make one thats 190 HP stock. Get that and slap on an intake, header and catback exhaust, put that clutch in that you wanted and you easily have a 210+ horsepower car. And Hmotorsonline.com you can get a very low milage H series motor that will last your well over 250,000 if you take care of it. Some additional advice, preludes are usually heavy, lighten it up and also see if you can find carbon fiber panels, or hoods, and lightweight racing seats. You do that and I'll buy your prelude from you lol, nah but seriously though, an H22 would fit you prelude nicely, a direct swap with no modifications. And H series are good for turbocharging, so if you want to put on a turbo kit later on down the road, feel free, you'll beat any N/A Rx7 or Supra on the drag strip

  3. Agree completely with LH above.

  4. Dude, you should definetely get the VTEC HEAD ONLY and do a frankenstein setup.A buddy of mine had an h23(which is the model you have) and put a H22 VTEC head...He only had an intake and headers,he was pulling 14.5 on the quarter mile..That's very good considering how much that car weighs. And the engine has lasted for over 3 years to this day and STILL running strong. Not many people have this setup either. So,I would DEFINETELY consider this an option.

  5. Look at it this way, if you have to even ask the question it is far beyond your ability to even accomplish it.

The RX7 and Supra are REAR wheel drive and a completely different design than the front wheel drive Prelude.  You will only be able to stay within the confines of the drive design.

With this in mind, it is even easier to stay within the confines of the manufacturer.  An easier yet, to stay with a motor that was available (anywhere in the world) in the car you have.  This makes the H22 the obvious choice.  You are, however, reaching a point on this old of a car that it is a more sensible solution to do this swap on a newer vehicle - more information, parts, and support available.  That would be my recommendation: keep your 92 stock as a daily driver, find a 95 base prelude that has a over 200k miles or even a bad engine and do the H22 swap on it.
