I have a 94 Katana that won't idle under 3000RPM unless I pull the vacuum line off the petcock.?

Question

I had a leak in my gas tank, so I took it off and brazed a plate to cover the holes. Since then, for some unknown reason, my bike won't idle under 3000RPM unless I pull the vacuum line off the back of the petcock.

Anyone have any ideas why this would happen? Would c**p from the gas tank getting into my carbs cause this? Much appreciated for any help.

maybe the tank isn't venting enough now. try opening the fuel cover and running it. if it works then that is your problem.

Its sucking fuel through the vac hose did you take it off when you fixed it
