I have a 94 ford escort and if I turn on the A/C and come to a stop and start to go it runs bad or will die?

If the a/c is on it run bad at times and if I stop it will run bad or die

common on ford it is your idle control unit not to exspensive you can get one at about any parts store look it over once you have it it nothing to change out it is right on top of the engine intake

You might have a failing alternator; the battery is generally only used to start the car.  Do you have any gauges to check to see if the charge is okay?  Check all your fuses.  With the A/C off, do your headlights dim and brighten along with engine speed?  Try adding devices one at a time - radio, lights then A/C in different combinations.

That's a tough one. I think I'd leave that to a mechanic, and hope that it's just a simple adjustment. Maybe the idle is set too low or there's a partial fuel line blockage.

A simple and inexpensive measure to try is to clean the throttle body.The hose coming from you air filter housing needs to be removed and a can of throttle body can be purchased at any automotive store.Spray it in the throttle body and use a shop rag to clean it out all around the butterfly valve. Make sure to get it all clean. reinstall hose and may run rough until the cleaner has been burned out of the engine but should help set your idle w/A?C on back to normal. a/c is a lot of strain on the engine their must be something that controls the idol that is not working i cant tell you how to fix it but if you shift it to neutral when at lights that should help
