OK, Its me again, brand new plugs, cap & rotor. Test drive again and chech engine light comes on, engine runs like c**p except when you get on it. I plug my ODMII in and it tells me i have a random miss fire on 1 2 3 4. I have half a tank of gas with injector cleaner in it, it started out full but every time i run it, it tells me the same thing(miss fire on 1 2 3 4). Dodge Man said fuel problem? Will a fuel problem show this type of codes? I'm not second guessing any one, but i need to narrow it down to a fuel problem or a injector problem, or other.

P.S. I'm not a back door tune up man, I race in the 8.90 bracket i just dont know the new BS. I'm old school. Give me a 4 tires a big block and a 12 foot frame and let me go! Thanks for all your help

  1. ive found that sediment likes to settle in the injectors toward the rear of the motor. it wouldnt hurt to remove the rail and injectors to clean/inspect the injectors.. youll find a mesh bowl in the inlet of each injector make sure there is no clogging by dirt/rust

seems odd that the front four cylinders are misfiring there really is no link to the front four other than fuel make sure each injector has 12v+ power on the green wire with orange trace on each injector

  2. if you have a low fuel problem you cant narrow it down to an injector problem because they wont get the right amount of pressure to allow them to work right ,so you have to verify your fuel pressure first on it,then go from their with it,you should have throttle body injection so you only have two injectors to it,low fuel pressure will cause it to do this,or a clogged injector, run a pressure check on it to verify the pressure, you need well more than 40 pounds on it to run this engine good, you,ll notice a random miss fire more at low speeds than high speeds, run the check then see if that's it ,i have ran across some that run like yours does, and sometimes it hard to diagnose them, good luck.

  3. There's a service bulletin for plug wire routing on those trucks pertaining to misfires, might check it out. How did the problem arise, all at once all set codes or ?? Misfire code can pertain to fuel but could be anything else also. Monitor the misfires on you scan tool and check out the cylinder that is the worst. Check for compression, vacuum leaks, spark, etc. There is are some issues with c**p in the fuel rail like the other guy suggested on the fuel systems without a return. Same system has an issue where the fuel will be aerated by a bad fuel pump and the air will effect the cylinder on the higher end of the rails (front), could easily be what you're experiencing.

  4. One of the fuel rails is bad? Kind of odd for all 4 to be missing. I can see maybe 2 injectors, but 4?

  5. It sounds like injectors. But if it runs fine when you give it gas, it could be the distributor.

  6. Well i tell you what pull the plugs and replace them thats a fire problem not fuel.
