Hi I have a totally inert bullet that I bought when it wouldn't fire. I can remove the bullet and put it back in with pliers, but i want to take the circle with the dent out of the back of it so I can make it into a necklace. How do I do this? Would hitting a nail into the back of it with a hammer work?

  1. if you are talking about the spent cap in the middle of the back of the bullet, just drill it out. using a drill bit thats about 2 mill. itle start to spin and lever out quite easily.

  2. the best way to do this is with a drill. It is possible to remove it using a vice and a small nail with the point ground flat but it is a little complicated to do so.

  3. I suggest you insure that the primer is "spent"!

You are postive there is no powder in it either, right?

This page shows how to reload. That includes removing the primer.

Be careful what you do. That primer can hurt you if it goes off in your face.

Edit: I was going to tell you exactly how to get it out without those tools and not doing any damage. But since you feel compelled to tell us to p**s off you are on your own little man.

  4. Some people here don't have a clue.

If there is a dent in the detonator, the round has already been fired and is harmless. With the dent being in the centre, it is called a 'centre-fire' bullet. other bullets are fired by the pin hitting the rim. These, funnily enough, are called 'rim-fire' bullets.

You can do what you like with it, that round won't hurt anyone.

  5. Go ahead and it hit, but have a video camera ready, a friend with a phone to call 911 and post it on youtube, and title it, "I just wanted to see what would happen" it will get lots of hits.

  6. No do not do that. Its still live!!!

I would not do anything, if you hit with a hammer it will go off the side of the bullet are coated with a fire solution.

Find someone that has a used round.

An why do you want to have a necklace made from it anyway. That's just asking for trouble.
