  1. LAYING BRICKS FLAT ON THE GROUND,,WITH    31/2 X 71/2 SIDE UP  IT WILL TAKE BOUT  756   BRICKS,,,, THERE ARE 7 BRICKS TO THE SQUARE FOOT,,,  9 X 12 AREA  =108 SQUARE  FEET  SO---   7 X 108  = 756 BRICKS,,,GET A FEW EXTRA  IN CASE SOME ARE BROKEN,,,LEVEL THE GROUND AS BEST POSSIBLY BEFORE LAYING THE BRICKS,,,THIS WILL MAKE IT EASIER TO WASH OFF AND KEEP DRY AND CLEAN,,,

  2. 84 + 10 extra to account for breakage and what have you, you should get enough smaller bricks to do a thin border around the larger ones.

  3. To begin with you must be using paver stones bricks are much smaller.

    9 'X 12' = 108 sq feet

    each paver is 12" x 12" which is 1 foot X 1 foot =1square foot

You need 108 of the pavers of the 1square foot pavers/patio stones

You can allow for breakage or you can use liquid nail caulk to hold any broken stones as long as it is chunk pieces.
