I have a ADM-pied cockatiel, what food is most preferable for my bird?

  1. It doesn't matter what type of cockatiel you have. Ideally, a well balanced diet would consist of a healthy pellet diet as the main bulk. Some seed mix (20% roughly), and lots of fresh foods should even it out.

    A seed only diet doesn't give a lot of the nutrients birds need, and even "fortified" seeds only have a coating on the outside hull, which your bird is not going to be eating. Pellets are an easy way to get all the nutrients right in one little piece and it's much less messy. They're much more nutritious but birds benefit from variety. The fresh foods are obviously going to be good for the bird and enjoyable as well.


  2. Cockatiels, including all mutations such as ADMpied (Recessive Pied /Harlequin) benefit from a main diet of pellets and fresh fruit and veg and a small amount of seed.

    Any cockatiel mix and millet spray should be good.
