Can I get a MAT and teach or is there another way??

If you want to teach in a public school, you'll need to take education courses for a basic license.  - a master's degree alone is probably not enough.

Check with the state dept of education where you want to teach for specific information on their requirements.  Sometimes (some places) you can begin teaching while you work on your education requirements.

If you want to teach at a private school, there are usually no restrictions as far as education credits go.  Just apply to your school of choice and prove what a great teacher you will be.
