I have a Bachelors in Criminal Justice but would love to be a teacher. What would it take to become a teacher? Or how long would I need to go back to college for? Or is there any fast-track program that would give me on the job training? My husband is in the military so I think it would be a great thing to get in to since we move around a lot!

  1. Each state does have different requirements.  The fact that you already have a BA is great.  In CA, you'd have to take a test and then fulfill the credential requirements.  Each state's department of education has websites that explain what becoming a teacher would entail.  Good luck!

  2. Varies a lot form state to state.  Make sure your state follows the PRAXIS series of exams and you should be able to transfer from state to state without to much trouble.

  3. Each state has its own requirements, but in my state you need a teaching certification.  It's usually one year of education courses that includes student teaching.  Check with your particular state's web site.  It will tell you what you need to know.  Or contact a university's education department.  They will know too.
