I have a CD player in my car with a USB socket but when I put my mp3 player in my CD player reads 'no files'?

I have made sure that the songs on my mp3 player are actually mp3s and it still says no files which is rubbish. I only bought the stupid radio because it had the USB socket. In the manual for the radio it only says if there is a problem playing mp3s then to contact the mp3 player manufacturer but there is nothing wrong with them. I even bought an additional one for in my car and neither work. HELP!!!!!??????!!!!!!!

  1. Some wont work with mp3 players at all. Some you have to put a flash drive with the mp3s on it for it to work. Thats how my grandmother's  new Chrysler 300 works.

  2. it might be that you cd player doesnt have a mp3 format so you cant play them.

  3. some of these stereo's only work with certain makes of MP3 player some only for ipod, some for Sony and some fro creative.

the manual should say what makes of player it works with the Apple Ipod is the most common.

  4. Some mp3 players won't work like this. Normally you need the mp3 files on a usb memory stick for this to work. Players like the iPod that need driver software on a PC won't work with an in car system unless it has a line-in function. If the player from new was recognised in windows as an external drive then it should work

  5. If your MP3 player doesn't work as an external hard disk, it won't work in your car player.

When you plug it into your computer, does it appear as a new disk drive (i.e. E:) in Explorer.  If not, it probably won't work...

  6. If the song files are from iTunes, they'll be copyright protected.  This means that they'll only be playable on a computer your iPond and iTunes is installed on, your iPod itself, or custom iPod speakers.  You won't be able to play the songs on a car stereo, a non-installed computer, or even a PS3.  Find some copyright-deleting software and take off the copyrights but BE CAREFUL, as this could corrupt the files.  My advice?  Get a regular mp3 sound system, NOT just an audio jack, and install that in your car.
