I have a Canon Canoscan 4200F Flatbed Scanner, and it is giving me an 2,178,0 error, how do I fix it?

It says that the original may not be set, the protective sheet may be put in place, or the lamp needs to be warmed up. The lamp does not need to warm up, I've tried that, and the original is set just fine. Maybe the protective sheet? Does anyone know?

the only way to fix that is to unplug the scanner...take all originals of the glas....close it...sit it on a hard surface floor and then take a chair...get up on top of it and then jump down onto the scanner....

now plug it back in and there you go...no more error messages
