I have a Canon SD1000 and I wanted to know if I can use a 4gb memory card with it?

I heard somewhere that sometimes a higher capacity memory card won't work on certain cameras.

From the Specs.

Storage Media:

SD Memory Card, SDHC Memory Card, MultiMediaCard

What you are hearing is that not all cameras support SDHC (which is what the higher capacity memory cards usually are).  However, your SD1000 does support SDHC... so you can use a 4GB SDHC card with it.
