I have a Chevy Cavalier 2001 and have the fuel filter replaced. After replacing car won't start.

By trying I got my Chevy Cavalier 2001 lock. It glowing an icon car with padlock. duno how to reset security system. now I won't be able to start and check it.

  1. did you put it in correctly fuel filters are directional.  Once fuel lines are opened the air needs to be bled off.  The system needs to be primed. carburetor or injectors?


  2. It should have IN stamped on one side of it. That would be the side that needs to be towards the rear of your car. After making sure it is in correctly do as stated above, turn your ignition key on, but do not start car. Wait 15-30 seconds and then try to start it. Good Luck.

  3. Yes you could of installed it wrong but also there should be a bleeder valve much like a air valve that is located on the fuel rail , try that first bec sometimes air can cause that too.

  4. You may have installed the filter backwards. It should have a flow direction arrow on it.

  5. two things to do or check, check if it is on backwards...if not turn the key to the start position and wait a lil bit for fuel pump to get the gas to the engine.. turn the key on and off a few times then try starting it.
