I have been taping Dvd's I get onto VCR tapes. Not all of them will tape, but some will. Now, I want to transfer those VCR tapes to DVD, using my DVR. But, some of the programs I have, such as The OC, MST3K and others will not let me transfer them onto DVD. There is a message that comes up saying "This program is not allowed to be recorded." Then why could I transfer the DVD to VHS first, and now I can't transfer them back from VHS to DVD+R or DVD-R? My DVR is compatible with both the + or - R's and RW's. Thanks!!!

  1. Hello venicedrowningme,

You can legally make backup copies for your own use but you will have to bypass the copy guard.

To do that you need a device like "Sima T120 GoDVD". It removes the copy guard and enhances the picture. You plug your source into it and plug it into the input of your recorder.

Here is an example of one - http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/i...

Another one that will work is the Digital Video Stabilizer.  They work like a charm. Go here to read about and see an example - http://www.qualitekindustries.com/vidsta...

  2. Go to Clearpix Media & check out their Digital Video Stabilizer 200 Model.  I just ordered one, $41.88 shipping & all.  Click on their Tech for the vcr/combo units, which is listed on down the page some, & it will tell you about the hook up & everything.  You will still need to use a separate vcr, though.  Their phone # is 603-626-6309.  I'm sure, that once everyone learns about this, & their business expands on this box, their prices will probably expand, also;  You get a one year free replacement warranty with it.
