Where the controller (where the sound dial is) plugs into the sub it has to be fiddled around with a bunch before it works, plugging it in all the way doesnt work, has to be just right hanging out slightly, or else the sound wont play. The on light will be on, but the sound wont work. It's been getting worse and worse and now today after messing with it for 10 minutes it still wont work.

Any ideas what the problem is?

  1. The jack has to be replaced.   (Most likely a bad internal connection.) Any good TV or electronics service technician can do it.

Also look at the plug--the problem could be in its wiring.  Not knowing what kind of plug it is, I don't know if you can replace it.  However, if it is an RCA phone plug, you can remove the old one and replace it with a new one you get from an electronics store.

You can try to contact Dell customer support to find out what the replacement parts are.
