  1. Hi, Look at your System Specs on your laptop and see the max amount of Ram your laptop can take and see what type of ram it is eg. SD/DDR.

    Hope This helps

  2. There are a lot of different types of ram out there getting the wrong type could severely damage your system.  go to the website listed below.  they have a little thing that will check what type of ram you need.  they will also give you a nice little list of what you have installed.

Keep in mind laptops have a limited amount of space.  while you may have 512Mb of ram it might be in two 256MB sims.  so getting another 512 mb sim will only give you 768 because you will have to remove a sim.  Also on some laptops one sim is located under the keyboard and the other is located on the bottom of the system.  so getting to both sims to replace them can be labor intensive and risky.

  3. Hi, it would be useful to know how much you have currently what version of Windows you are using.

To find out what your laptop is capable of using try here -

If outside the UK just lose the uk part of the address. Click on Scan My System or just enter your make and model number from the drop down boxes. It will tell you how much RAM your laptop can take and what type of RAM it is. There are a number of different types so it is important to get the right kind.  It will give you some idea of prices too and then you can shop around knowing what you need.

It's really tough to give advice knowing so little about your laptop and how you use it but generally if you are running Windows XP i would recommend 1GB if not already moving onto 2GB if it is not too expensive if you already have 1GB, if you have less than 1GB then moving up to 1GB will make a big difference. If you are running Vista 2GB is about the sweet spot for performance.

Hope this helps, if not then just post some more information and i will edit my post to apply better to your needs.

  4. Write your laptop model. Otherwise I can't answer.
